I spent more than five years reporting, writing, and editing Why the Democrats are Blue. Now it's time to hear from you. What did you think of the book? Do you care that secular and religious liberals hijacked the national party and drove away Catholics and blue-collar workers? Or do you disagree? Send me your thoughts, comments, questions, etc. I will respond.
Some people vote for the party -- mindless of what they are
really saying in their vote. They vote because it was the way their parents voted -- without thinking about the name on the ticket or what that persons values are. Our country is in deep trouble because some very bad things have been done -- prayer was taken out of schools, Abortion on demand was made legal.
Homosexual lifestyle is pushed by movies and television programs. Bad language is everywhere - even in songs. The media gives honor to those that hold up thrash - foul mouth language, tattoos, studs and rings all over the body, and more and more of the flesh exposed. It is terrible and influences the minds of the young people today. Sex is pushed on school age children. Laws have been passed to declare wrong things to be legal. We the people really need to listen to what the speaker is saying - look at what the party platform states.
Stop voting for a Party just because that is the way our parents and grandparents voted. The party has changed.
Our nation needs to turn back to the Bible - which was the first text book of the schools of our nation. The first buildings built were churches -- and these used as schools until the school could be built. God will not bless a nation that continues to refuse His Way.
I am just ordering your book today. I read your article in the Register and appreciate your pointing out McCain's "less than passionate" voice on life issues. I'll report back with a book review.
Mr. Stafford: Thanks for your service to our country. I'm glad you enjoy the book -- and are working toward the vision of the great old Democratic Party.
Mr. McDole: Your analysis and criticism, imho as they say on the web, is on the money.
RightDemocrat: Your criticism reminds me of Psalm 40 -- "How long, oh Lord? How long?"
I am reading your book and I'm impressed by its message.I was an active Republican for thirty years until this last election when I voted for Jim Webb in Virginia. When I return from Iraq after my present deployment, I intend to work for the goals outlined in your book. Its good to be back in the party of my Dad, and there is a lot of work to do.
Regards,
Samuel K. Stafford
A Pro-Life Democrat
Your book is on the money. I have sadly watched for years to see our party leaders pander to the elitist in our party who had rather focus on their personal narrow philosophies and loose elections than increase the size of the tent and be on the winning side.
You would think that they would get so tired of loosing they would go out and get a bigger tent. Wrong again, they never do.
The Democrats are doing better not because we are any better or any more open minded. We are doing better because the Bush Administration has done so poorly.
Most Democrats outside of DC are so tired of trying to drag the same old message across the finish line every four years. The Democratic Governors get elected by focusing on what the people support.
Great book!

I agree that our party has fallen under the control of elitist secular liberals. A significant number of rank and file Democrats still hold social tradionalist-economic views but such voters are not represented well within the party structure. Democrats need to move toward the center on social issues and focus on being the party of working families again.

Thank you for a great book. I am so glad to read it. The next election will be interesting. I recomend that you look up the Venona project that was declassified by Sen. Moynahan. I think you will find it interesting.
